Kitab Maqtal al-Husayn
The first historian to systematically collect the reports dealing with the events of Kerbala was names Abu Mikhnaf in a work titles Kitab Maqtal al-Husayn. His father was a companion of Imam Ali. Abu Mikhnaf was a trusted and a reliable historian whose tradition - reports were relied upon by many historians, Shia and Sunni.
